I’ve been a bit impatient with my art lately, things just haven’t worked out as I would like, so I tried a little comparison.

First I did a 8×10 oil….                  Then a 9×12 watercolor…

What do I like about oils….easy to fix or cover up mistakes and easy framing

What do I like about watercolor…easy cleanup,   put the water on the paper then add the paint, dabbing with a tissue gives a nice highlighted look,  can nearly finish in a day and it takes up a lot less room.

I am happier with the watercolor.  The composition is better.  The oil cardinal is too big and not enough of the tree shows.  I still have some oils to finish but I will probably steer clear of them for a while.
